Discord: How to Add a Server Icon to a Server?

When a user creates a new Discord server, they have the option to upload a server icon during the creation process. This icon looks like a profile picture . However, this is not required during the server creation process and users can upload any icon of their choice after their server is created.

In this section, you'll learn how to add a server icon to your server from the Discord mobile app. So, you have to press the server name at the top of the screen when you display the list of channels for your server. Then, you have to click on Settings which is on the right side of the screen. Thereafter, you must open the photo library of your device by pressing the server icon space located at the top of the screen.

You can use Discord's photo editing tools to crop or rotate the image, if desired. Once you're done customizing your server icon, tap "Choose" in the lower right corner of the screen.

Note that once this icon has been added to the Discord server, the following steps can be repeated in the future if you want to change it.

Discord raises $100 million and reaches $7 billion in capitalization

At a time of confinement and social distancing, virtual communication companies are taking advantage of the situation. At the end of December 2020, the platform now has 140 million monthly active users , twice as many as at the end of 2019.

In this mild context, Discord announces a Series H fundraising of $100 million . The main investor is Greenoaks Capital, supported among others by Index Ventures. Its capitalization now stands at 7 billion dollars, which is double of 6 months ago.

The company's CEO and co-founder, Jason Citron, promises to use these funds to continue improving Discord. This fundraiser could be the last of the startup before its IPO which promises to be sensational...

Discord is recruiting the teams of two startups to diversify beyond gaming

Following its dazzling success with gamers, Discord is seeking to continue its growth by diversifying its audience . To achieve this, it has just called on two startups.

The goal? Make the platform even more engaging for existing users, but also attract new categories of users .

First of all, Discord recruited the nine people behind the Byte platform , which offers to develop communities around videos. The stated goal is to attract content creators.

In addition, the six creators of the Zyper service have been hired. The purpose of this platform was to bring people together around the brands they love and their common interests. For Discord, the challenge is to attract the attention of brands to its messaging.

These are not acquisitions per se, since Discord did not buy the services and applications of these two startups. Conversely, the firm plans to exploit the talent and know-how of these two teams to improve and extend its own platform.

As a reminder, Discord has promised not to monetize its service through advertising or the collection of personal data from users . It must therefore find alternatives to capitalize on its success, and one of the solutions could be to turn to brands and content creators.
