With the coming up of this festival, there is the commencement of festivals in India. This festival arrives on the 13th day of Krishna paksha of the dark fortnight of the month of Kartik (According to the Indian calendar). Because this was the day when the gods and demons were gathered at the coast of “Samudra Manthan” to chirn the ocean in search of “Amrit” (Elixr). Then the god “Dhanvantari” merged. So, that day is called as Dhanteras. The “God Dhanvantari” is the “God Of Ayurved” hence he is not the wealth giver but he is the wealth giver. And as their no broach of wealth in this. There are some sayings for this which are as follows :-
“ ????? ??? ?????? ????,
???? ??? ?? ??? ???? ? ”
Due to this reason, it is not only celebrated for wealth, but also for health and due to this it is called as dhanteras.
On this day Hindu people worships to the “Goddess Lakshmi “ and many people also worships to the god of wealth “ God Kuber “ with the “Goddess Lakshmi “ by thinking that this affect more positively to them. And on this day “Goddess Lakshmi “came out from the “Dudh Sagar” (the ocean of milk) due to this it is called Dhanteras.
And there is one more reason behind it which is explained below :-
There was a craving of the “goddess laxmi” to visit the earth and they was granted this permission by “Lord Vishnu”, but with some conditions of “Lord Vishnu”. But when they ging on the Earth When the goddess broken their vow Lord Vishnu get annoyed by their act and given them the retribution that they have to pass the span of 12 years as the servant of poor farmer. And in this span that poor famer became rich and prosperous. When she completed her this span then “Lord Vishnu” came on earth in the avtar of common fellow to take them back from the earth to “Vaikunth” then the farmer refused to give her back. During that time goddess came in their avtar and then she promised to that farmer that she will come to meet that farmer in every year on eve of “krishnatryodashi” before Diwali so that farmer keep his house clean before diwali for the welcome of goddess. And farmer became rich and prosperous year by year and when people get to know about this they also started to worship them that’s how it was started to worship the goddess lakshmi. And due to this Dhanteras is clebrated. Dhanteras is also called as “krishnatryodashi” .
This festival is very auspicious in the life of people of India. The Hindus buy’s new utensils, gold or silver ornaments for the worship of “Goddess Laxmi” because the goddess likes more the golden or silver things.
