Icse, Cbse or State Boards: What Is Best for Your Child?

The curriculum used in schools of India is dominated by the three education boards- CBSE, ICSE, and State Boards. These lay the foundation for your child's future career. However, each education board has its unique approach to the teaching and learning process and study materials. So, before signing up your child for school admissions in Gurgaon, brushing up on the details of these boards will help you make a better choice.

How do they differ from each other? Which one is better for your kid? Does it make any difference? Questions like this are inevitable, but it need not be a dilemma. Let's have a comparative observation of these three education boards to be better informed.

The Major Differences

  • The Central Board of Education (CBSE) is recognised by the Indian Government, unlike the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE).
  • The curriculum of CBSE is designed by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), while The ICSE is prescribed by The Council for Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE). The state boards design their syllabus according to the Department of Education of the respective states.
  • The medium of instruction, for instance, in CBSE schools in Gurgaon, are in English and Hindi. But, ICSE encourages only English in classroom teaching. The state board affiliated schools places vernacular languages as a medium of instruction respective to the state.
  • CBSE focuses on assignments, projects, and sports as well. The students become more efficient and can crack entrance or competitive exams with ease. The ICSE board encourages the overall development of the students, stressing more on the growth of practical and analytical skills. The State Board syllabus is comparatively easy and generic, turning it easy for the students to score marks.
  • The number of CBSE affiliated schools is paramount in the country.  So, in case you want to move your mid midway academic year, it would not be much of a difficulty finding a school. It will save your kid from the need to compromise or adjust to a new curriculum.

Career Opportunities

If your kid wishes for a career in medical science or engineering, then CBSE would be a good choice; since the syllabus for exams like JEE and NEET align with that of the curriculum of CBSE. The preparation for the Union Public Services recommends using NCERT textbooks, so CBSE is your call. Though ICSE makes a student globally ready, CBSE is better in the long run for a professional career because of its focus on applying knowledge and concepts.

Students studying from state boards schools, however, are at a disadvantage when it comes to cracking competitive exams. They may require assistance or coaching.

Now that you are informed, about the three dominant education boards in India, the answer to which one is the best is clear to you. So, if you are looking for school admissions in Gurgaon, it would be better to opt for CBSE schools in Gurgaon to ensure better career opportunities for your child and their overall development. Find the one with excellent facilities and make your children learn the best.
