St George’s University School of Medicine

St. George’s University School of Medicine’s North American students is required to have a baccalaureate degree before applying for the MD program. Applicants for the MD program must also complete prerequisite coursework and attain competitive MCAT scores in addition to completing the application process (which includes essays). It is not uncommon for St. George’s applicants to pursue pre-medicine coursework at other educational institutions and then apply to enter the U.S. Medical School - this is referred to as transfer credit and can be applied towards overall academic progress should they choose to take it that route.

To begin the first year of their medical studies, many Grenada students study on True Blue Campus. However, the Keith B. Taylor Global Scholars Program provides North American students with opportunities to spend the first year of their medical training in Newcastle, United Kingdom, on Northumbria University’s (UK) campus. During this time these students follow a program identical to that offered in Grenada making their international experience as similar as possible. To continue honing their skills and gaining professional hands-on experience throughout the remaining two years following graduation, each medical graduate chooses where they would like to complete their clinical training.

The final two years are dedicated to clinical sciences. Since students are placed at one of over 70 clinical centres and affiliated hospitals in the United States and the United Kingdom, they all happen to be done on services with approved postgraduate training programs.

SGU’s medical school tuition compares favourably with the tuition of other top medical schools around the country — and we offer scholarships and other financial aid assistance that cater to your unique situation.

For the Basic Sciences study, the total amount for this academic year will be around 146,175 USD. However, for the clinical study, St George’s University School of Medicine fee is 318,640 USD. The fee structure includes the payment of admin charges. Administrative charges include areas like academic support, student support services, IT support, and facilities.

Clinical training is conducted at more than 70 affiliated hospitals and clinical centres in the US and UK, all of which are done on services provided by approved postgraduate training programs. We ensure a seamless and structured clinical learning experience for our students by having SGU faculty, program directors, and directors of medical education at each training site for students to be trained alongside other doctors in real-time situations.
