Karnataka IPS officer d. Following spontaneous posts on social media by Roopa Moudgil, a war of words ensued with a right-wing Twitter handle, supporting the government's decision to ban firecrackers during Diwali, Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut has stepped up in support.
In his series of tweets in support of the Twitter handle ology True Indology '(now suspended by Twitter), Ranaut said police officers like him were embarrassed in the name of the force. "His force must be suspended," his tweet read.
Ruling on Rupa's comments, Ranaut wrote in his Twitter handle @KanganaTeam that "the government appoints people like Rupa to protect the fundamental rights of the common people, but sees her obnoxious ignorance towards the agony." Has become so vindictive that if he can't win the argument with facts, he just finished @TIinExile (True Indoli). Shame on you @D_Roopa_IPS ".
The Bollywood actor's series of tweets against Rupa comes in the backdrop of controversy between Rupa and a popular Twitter handle True Indology over the origin of firecrackers and whether they were used in ancient India. It began after several state governments, including Karnataka, banned banning firecrackers during Diwali.
In a tweet on November 14, Rupa shared his Facebook post saying that bursting of firecrackers is not a part of Hindu tradition as there is no mention in religious scriptures or epics.
The statement was contested by True Indology, which in turn "accepted the challenge" and cited texts to prove this, but failed to convince the IPS officer.
As the two debated, Roopa first blocked True Indology, then Twitter suspended the handle. The goal for the account discontinuing was not declared.
"Those side effects of badges, when downright and unwanted energy addition, they not only hurt, I don't remember anything about their own lives, but I assure that their frustration arises from their incompetence, "Ranaut tweeted, Rupa should be suspended because such crimes were shameful in the name of the police force.
Ranaut, in his tweet, appealed to start the hashtags campaign #BringBackTrueIndology and #ShameBeaYouIPSRoopa, saying, "We can't give him his bad way #BringBackTrueIndology."
In a series of tweets, the actor sloganeered the police officer for being "vindictive" and indulging in spats during his working hours.
No holds barred, Ranaut also questioned Twitter and its CEO, Jack Dorsey, for suspending the account and demanded action against tagging Prime Minister Narendra Modi's office on the social media site.
" @Twitter @TwitterIndia Your bias and Islamist publication is evil, why did you suspend @TIinExile?" Because he busted fake narratives of our history? Shame on you, waiting for the day when you will be banned in India, hope @PMOIndia takes action on Twitter, ”he tweeted.
Meantime, obeying the three-day-long contest, senior Congress director and wrote advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi tweeted, "IPS leaders of the country should not have to argue with anonymous Twitter handles that even during working hours. Make a point, let it go, you will win nothing by arguing over SM! "
Despite being trolled, Rupa insisted on Twitter without tagging anyone that "my silence for all of them, well, life beyond a Twitter, real-world, real job, with real responsibilities".
"U can troll me, hurt me, challenge me, because you have enough time to do it, but can't take away my commitment and commitment to the duty and law of the land." Jai Hind Flag of India, ”he tweeted.
Significantly, after several states banned firecrackers during Diwali, Rupa tweeted that "the ban on firecrackers in Bengaluru is for this year, given the COVID situation." Why can't I stop myself from using crackers for a year? Are we so hollow that our joy depends only on crackers? There are many ways to celebrate Deepawali. Light diyas, meet people, exchange mittai ... but no, unshakeable people only want crackers. How unfair! "
Many users agreed with her statement, posting several positive comments in response to her post. But as she shared the same post on Twitter, many netizens said that she should also question the customs of other religions.
