 It can be a lightweight breathable cotton fabric or a heavy jacquard fabric that is chosen depending upon the occasion or event in which you are going to wear it. The fabric is made from natural fibers such as cotton plants or mulberry silkworms used to make cotton and silk or can be synthetic fibers such as polyester, nylon or rayon.  


Choosing the fabric even depends on the climatic conditions of the area where you live. Cotton: 

The first name is always cotton. This natural fiber is highly favourable by Indian women due to its number of pros. The fabric is obtained from cotton plants that grow under natural climatic conditions and is used to make a variety of beautiful outfits. 


Cotton is usually popular for its bright color and vibrant texture. It is the best material for summers as it has the ability to control sweat and moisture. Women hugely prefer this fabric for daily basis. 

 

Georgette:

The lightweight fabric that is originally made from silk having a smooth texture and a playful appeal is georgette. It is a sheer dull-finished fabric that is made of highly twisted yarns having a crinkly surface that is created by alternating the S and Z twist yarns in weft and warp technique. 


The fabric is named after the French dressmaker Georgette de la Plante and is the prior choice of every dressmaker. Salwar suits made from this are immensely popular for special functions. 


 

Linen:

Linen is considered to be one of the oldest fabrics in the world whose history goes back to thousands of years. It is a fabric made from the fibers of a flax plant. It has strong and absorbent characteristics and has the ability to dry even faster than cotton.

Chiffon:

Similar to georgette, chiffon is also a lightweight fabric that is originally made from silk but now even from synthetic fibers such as nylon and polyester that differs in weight as per the fabric from which it is made.

Muslin:

The cotton fabric of plain weave muslin is a lightweight and breathable textile that is available in a wide range of weights depending on the material from which it is made.


 It is believed that the fabric got its name from the city of Mosul, Iraq which is believed to be the place of its origin. Earlier Muslin was handwoven with handspun yarns that made a delicate fabric. The material is popularly known as Malmal and is used to make pretty salwar suits.

 

Silk:

The second most popular fabric all around the globe is silk that is known as Resham in India. It is a natural fiber that is obtained from the cocoons of larvae of mulberry silkworm having a shiny and smooth texture. 


It is one of the most admired fabric for wedding functions and parties that provides a perfect appeal to the wearer. A beautiful silk dress material can be converted into different patterns to get a stunning attire. 


Velvet:

A soft and fluffy fabric having a distinctive soft feel is velvet. It can be made from synthetic fibers or natural fibers that differ in texture depending upon the material from which it is made.

Jacquard:


Jacquard is a fabric or cloth that features intricate patterns woven into the wrap rather than weaving it on the fabric to give it an amazing appeal.

The fabric is typically made of cotton and gives a comfortable feel while wearing. It is usually used to make exemplary ethnic and traditional outfits.
