As expensive and worthy leather jackets are, we know it isn’t easy to replace them right away. However, there are smart tricks that you can use to fix your ripped leather jacket. Here, in this article, we will be discussing some smart ways to get your leather jacket back as new, instead of investing in a new one.

Let’s fix your ripped leather jacket

To fix your ripped leather jacket, you need to get your hands on quite a few supplies. The supplies needed are:

  1. Sewing needle.

  2. Scissors.

  3. Thread.

  4. Fabric patch.

  5. Fabric glue.

  6. Cellophane tape.

Let’s begin with the process

Step 01:

With the dull end of the needle, move the torn edges of the leather jacket into their original place. You can use cellophane tape to hold the position of the leather. If the tape is very sticky, remove some of the stickiness by taping it onto your skin a few times.

Step 02:

Next, turn the leather jacket inside out to find the area on the inside that has been ripped. Once you turn your leather jacket inside out, and if you see the seam somewhere near the tear, then carefully use a seam ripper to open the area and get an access to the tear. If there is no seam, then very carefully use a scissor to cut a hole in the lining and reach the torn area.

Step 03:

Stay on the inside of the leather jacket, and take a fabric patch that matches the closet to your leather jacket. Let the size of the fabric patch be larger than the tear on your leather jacket. Patch the fabric by holding the fabric firmly in place, and use fabric glue to fix the patch. Allow the glue to dry properly for a few minutes.

Step 04:

Now turn the jacket outside, and come on the exterior shell of your leather jacket. Remove the cellophane tape you used earlier to position the leather. Use the dull side of the needle to open the tear. Spread a drop of fabric glue on the fabric patch that you placed on the inside, and wipe off any excess. And then press the leather back into place with the help of the needle.

Step 05:

Go back to the inner side of the leather jacket and stitch the tear close with the help of a needle and thread.

Conclusion

We understand how miserable one can be after finding a tear on such an expensive leather jacket. We hope that the above-mentioned ways must be helpful for the ones who are seeking ways to fix their ripped leather jackets. More power to you all!???????
