Amazing Ways to Make Your Home Interior Look More Stunning

As soon as we hear the word dream house, the images that flash in our mind are vibrant colors, large windows on the seafront, or a cozy home on a hill station. What we often forget is that the devil is in the details. A house with great decor looks gracious and ensures that every space is more purposeful.

The wall colors, flooring texture, furniture patterns, window dimensions, etc., make a home beautiful, comfortable, and personal. Below are a few interior design tips that can make people feel awestruck the moment they enter your home.

  1. Know the basics

There are a few points common for every type of interior design–be it traditional, modern, or art decor. For example, the furniture, wall hangings, paintings, and indoor plants should be proportional to the space. It should not make a room too cramped or too empty. Ensure that there is negative space in every room.

Also, let the house have maximum natural light and be careful when choosing the paint color. Before deciding, check the colors during the daytime and at night. Remember that fine decor doesn't mean a collection of expensive items.

  1. Determine or fix the place

It is essential to fix the location for large equipment and structures like the television units, fish tank, and fireplace; each will have its requirements.

For instance, the aquarium needs nearby water and power sources and needs to be visible. The location of the aquarium also depends on the climate. In the hot summers, do not place it near the windows, as direct sunlight can increase the temperature inside the glass tank. That said, it is possible to keep them near the fireplace or kitchen during cold climate conditions.

Likewise, the ideal position for the fireplace is at the center of the living room. You can go for a double-sided heating option so that you add a hearth to the living room and bedroom simultaneously. Or opt for a less intrusive suspension-type fireplace to give a modern twist. You can also opt for a majestic vermont fireplace for both modern and traditional designs. Moreover, the design allows homeowners to literally place this fireplace in any room of your residential or commercial building.

  1. Choose colors wisely

It is advisable not to select the paint color for the walls first. Think of the furniture and electronics you already have and either match or contrast the wall colors. Check if they go well with the floor color or the carpet colors.

Remember that making a home vibrant does not mean painting each room in a different color.

Ideally, go for a color scheme. Choose three to four colors based on the size of the house. Moreover, bring variance by choosing different shades of the main colors. Another hack is to add colorful accessories in a small corner. It will draw attention and also make the space look larger.

  1. Designs with natural ventilation

Large windows and balconies and their correct positioning are aspects of architectural design. The casement, louver, and clerestory windows are some of the ideal window types.

But it is not possible to place windows everywhere. One interior design hack is to have a screen block facade instead of a solid wall. You can also go for stylish bamboo shields that can prevent the entering of direct sun rays during the summer months. If possible, keep small fountains and earth mounds in balconies and other open areas like the atrium. These can naturally cool the surrounding air and enhance the design of the house.

  1. Pay attention to the kitchen design

Irrespective of the size, the kitchen area often becomes challenging to maintain. One has to fix the place for equipment like a dishwasher, hob, etc., and place necessary items accordingly. For instance, plates can be near the dishwasher and cups near the coffee maker/kettle. At the same time, the kitchen can become crammed with a lot of electronics, groceries, vessels, etc.

In modular kitchens, the idea is to enclose everything with cabinets and cupboards. But it is advisable to have a few open shelves to keep frequently-used utensils, spice jars, salt, sugar, oil, etc. It reduces the cumbersome task of opening and closing the doors or sliders. Another trick is to have glass facades instead of opaque ones. With a see-through option, you need not open the wrong door in the busy mornings.

In addition, consider additional lighting if you have a kitchen island. Beautiful pendant lights are non-intrusive and make the place look more social

  1. Go for green plants

Indoor plants come in various shapes and sizes. They look soothing, calm our minds, and freshen the air. You can hang them, fill a corner, or display them as the central piece. It is also possible to make the design look grandiose with plant walls and dividers. You can also keep them on the unused kitchen shelf or by the swimming pool.

Final Thoughts

Interior design is a vast and well-developed arena in the real estate industry. Even though there are different styles, you can always mix and match. But you shouldn't hurry up and buy decor and accessories for every wall and space available. Also, all your design elements need not be branded and expensive. Take photographs of the wall and the room and decide what you need to buy. Also, it is advisable to renew and refurbish rather than add decorative elements.
