Emotional Aspect for Surrogacy

The emotional aspect of surrogacy is no less important an aspect than the psychological aspect of surrogacy, or the physical aspect of surrogacy, or the medical aspect of surrogacy. The intended parents cannot accept their infertility problems emotionally. Many of their emotional ups and downs lead them to take surrogacy journeys as a way to overcome their emotional problems. Other emotional aspects from the point of view of the intended parents are the huge costs and the uncertainty to succeed in the surrogacy process.

Professional Counselors Help to Solve Emotional Problems

Whatever the emotional aspects of surrogacy, there are professional counselors who help to solve emotional situations or problems very efficiently. The supportive partnership between the parents plays a very important role in the process. Usually, most of the surrogacy clinics and fertility specialists have their own professionals like psychological counselors and emotional counselors, the job of whom is to describe perfectly the good aspects and the bad aspects of surrogacy service and fertility treatment to the intended parents and the surrogate mother so that any false picture in the mind of them creating emotional negativity about the surrogacy process can wisely be eliminated in order to help ensure the ultimate success of the surrogacy journey. While intended parents are investing a huge sum of money in the surrogacy program, the surrogates are also sacrificing their time with patients undergoing physical, psychological, and emotional hardship among the uncertainty and risks of their life. Having high hope of success in mind, the intended parents oftentimes become emotional that require professional attention to come to normal.

Surrogacy is Not a Womb Hiring Service

The success of surrogacy largely depends upon the mutual relationships among everyone involved. Any gap will miserably work as an emotional aspect of surrogacy that will not bring any positive result for anyone. The act of surrogacy is not merely a business of service and remuneration between the surrogates and the intended parents. The intended parents should always bear in mind that surrogacy is not a womb hiring service. It is rather a humanitarian service. If the surrogates are not treated with due respect by the intended parents, the surrogates may even be exploited by the intended parents that may badly affect the emotional aspects of the surrogates which may seriously harm the physical condition of the gestational surrogates and the baby they are carrying to deliver to the intended parents.

Emotional Aspect of Handing Over the Newborn

A surrogate mother (maternidad subrogada) carries the baby inside her womb for nine months for the intended parents. These nine months are not a short period of time. Within this period, the surrogate becomes emotionally attached to the baby. In some cases, she starts to imagine herself not only as the surrogate mother of the baby but also the mother of the baby because of the motherly nature in every woman. As a result of this emotional aspect in the surrogacy process, the surrogate might demand to retain the baby after she gives birth. There are some countries where the law permits surrogates the right to retain the baby. But it is not the purpose of surrogacy as the intended parents nurture an ardent desire of having a baby through the surrogacy process. The emotional counselors should always check this emotional aspect of the surrogates from time to time.

The above emotional aspects of surrogacy should not make the childless couples bring out any negative emotion towards surrogacy. The human mind works in its own way, and so the emotional aspect is always involved. With the help of emotional counselors and self-awareness, negative emotions can be handled in the surrogacy journey.
