Tips for Product Displaying in Retail Stores

Product displaying in retail stores has gained importance in every sector where there involves buying and selling. Displaying products in the most strategic way with a distinctive presentation is meant to entice potential customer, and attract them to buy the products.

The nature of displaying of products on retail displays, gondola shelving or on glass display cabinets differ from one another, and the difference lies mostly on the distinctive features/nature of various industries. For example, the way a business-owner would display a piece of jewellery or a clothing, will obviously differ from displaying stationaries.

Product Display in Retail Stores

Here are some pointers below. Give them a read and check if you can apply them to your retail stores.

Communicate with Your Customers

You know what works best for your business? To get to know what your customers want and implement them to your store. The truest and best information would always come from the shoppers. So, it is always a smart choice to involve your customers or potential customers during the planning phase, and have a tete-a-tete with your existing customers (if the store is getting revamped) or potential customers (in case of a new brand).

Window Display

Make every-inch of the look of your store count. Choose the right theme for your window displays. Customers are attracted instantly by the window displays. Gondolas retail can’t be put up outside the store, thus, a smart yet decorative window display using vibrant hues, a apt theme (which may change as per festivals or seasons) and some attractive products to entice the crowd, and make their brand noticeable. “Eye level is buy-level”, so make sure the products you display are at the eye-level, nether below or above it.

Prompt Training for Staff

Retail merchandising not only involves proper display of products, fixtures, and gondolas display, but also requires active participation of the sales guys. And this is particularly important when there are slow-moving items. You need to find out ways and involve your employees to make certain products more visible. You may design special costumes, or implement audio-visual methods to attract customers and increase in sales of slow-moving items.

Keep Updating Your Products

Retailers should make it a point to keep improving their merchandise and merchandising strategies, and that won’t cost them anything. If you have ample products already, and do not want to buy anything new, no worries, keep shuffling them. Especially for some specific items that you want to store in glass display cabinets, keep shuffling their positions. That will always impart a new and fresh look to your store.

Suppose, if one customer visits you on Day 1 and again on Day 10, he won’t remember all the products obviously, but will only remember the one that are highlighted. Even if they are not new, the customer will think them to be new, and believe that you have great sales.

Give Cross-Merchandising A Chance

Plan well and implement cross-merchandising in your store. Identify products that have at least something in common or go well together, when put in a single display. If you are merchandising clothes, why not put-up matching bags, or shoes, accessories or even makeup along with it? Or maybe body wash with loofahs, chocolates with snacks, shoes with socks, copies with pens, and so on.

Using in-Store Technology

In-store experience of customers can be enhanced with in-store technology. For example, in a store selling electronic goods, if you keep the devices on, the customers would be able to check the picture quality, sound quality and so on. For other products, advertisements being played on televisions or giant screens in the screen can be helpful.

These are just some little tips and tricks that will help you set up your own store. Put these to use, and let us know how it affects your sales.
