Omicron Updates: These Eight States Impose a Ban on the New Year Celebration

Because of the increase in Omicron cases, numerous state governments have imposed Covid-related restrictions during New Year's celebrations in order to limit the extremely contagious variety. So far, India has documented 781 instances of Omicron variant infection, with Delhi having the largest number of illnesses (238), followed by Maharashtra (167). The unexpected increase in Covid cases in the country has compelled the country's eight states to enact night curfews and other restrictions.


DELHI


Delhi has topped the list of the country's tightest Covid bans implemented ahead of New Year's 2022. Because of the increase of Omicron cases, the national capital has issued a 'Yellow warning.' From 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., the city has implemented a night curfew. Furthermore, restaurants, pubs, and public transportation will be required to run at 50% capacity.

MAHARASHTRA


The Maharashtra government has also outlawed groups of more than five people from congregating in public locations between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. Restaurants will be operating at half-capacity. Mumbai's civic council has prohibited New Year's Eve celebrations in any closed or open location in the city.


KARNATAKA


The southern state has enforced a nighttime curfew from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. for ten days. Furthermore, the Karnataka government has prohibited New Year's Eve parties in bars, restaurants, and hotels. Furthermore, the state government has forbidden New Year's Eve parties and gatherings in public places, particularly for those who celebrate with DJs.

Pubs and clubs, on the other hand, have been requested to operate at half capacity from December 30 to January 2.


KERALA


Kerala has prohibited New Year's Eve parties during the night. Pubs, restaurants, and bars can operate with a seating capacity of 60%.

MADHYA PRADESH


As a preventive step to control Omicron spread, the state has enforced a night curfew across the state from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m.

GUJARAT


The Gujarat government has increased the night curfew by two hours in eight cities. In Surat, Vadodara, Rajkot, Gandhinagar, Junagadh, Jamnagar, Bhavnagar, and Ahmedabad, the curfew would be in effect from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. instead of 1 a.m. to 5 a.m.

UTTAR PRADESH


The Uttar Pradesh government has enforced a night curfew from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. due to an increase in Omicron cases in multiple states.

ODISHA


The government of Odisha has decided to put extra restrictions on New Year's Eve celebrations till January 2, 2022. The state has prohibited New Year's Eve night festivities at hotels, clubs, restaurants, parks, conference halls, and other public venues throughout the state.

Vaccines provided to date (percentage of eligible people): 

  • 3,973,416 initial doses (94 percent )
  • 3,845,831 second doses (91 percent )
  • 28,471 third primary doses
  • 295,666 booster doses

Omicron update???????

LIVE Coronavirus Omicron News: In the previous 24 hours, India recorded 13,154 new COVID-19 cases. The number of active cases has risen to 82,402. As of Thursday, the total number of Omicron cases has increased to 961, with 263 instances in Delhi and 252 in Maharashtra. Omicron patients have recovered or been released in 320 of the 961 instances.


On Wednesday, Maharashtra was one of many states that reported a significant increase in Covid-19 cases. Delhi recorded 923 new cases, a significant increase from the 496 discovered the day before. The percentage of those who are optimistic has also increased to 1.29 per cent. Mumbai, among other places, had a significant increase, with 2,510 cases recorded. In addition, 400 infections were discovered in Bengaluru, 540 in Kolkata, and 294 in Chennai.
