Jean and I moved to a new apartment. Our bodies were exhausted. "George, let's take a short nap.". She holds my hand."ok, honey". I nodded, but suddenly our doorbell rang.
"Welcome, Mr. & Mrs. George"." We didn't want to bother you"." it is for both of you". It was a gift of a dinner set. They were wearing casual dress, and caterpillar shoes pakistan.
"Thanks, Mr. and Mrs. John." We invited them for tea, with snacks. They entered and spent time with us.
When they left. I told Jean to look for some gifts, which we can give to our neighbors. I also took my phone, for a search. We worked out a list, which is as follows:
"Hey, George look at this". Jean pointed out a decorative stone which had the quotation:" friends are the flower in the garden of life". "Wow, honey". "It looks great", "why don't we just order for Mr. and Mrs. John." jean said, I nodded my head." I am with you on this". We just added it to our cart.
They like greenery. We also visited their home, taking some fresh fruits and veggies. many coconuts, and cactus near the parking lot. We just sat there with Mr. John and Mrs. John. We had dinner together.
Mrs. Jacob loves cooking. Her husband Mr. Jacob, likes to help her with it. Both are famous for throwing, surprise parties at their home. Jean and I remember we were in their home, last year for thanksgiving.
They brought a big roasted turkey, to the dining table. We all clapped, out of surprise." Please try it," Mr. Jacob said. Jean and I were enjoying every bit of it, with others. It had salt, pepper, chili, etc. Jean was adding more to my plate, and I was putting finely chopped pieces, in her mouth." Very tasty," I said to Jean. She was indulged in its great taste.
"Jean, I wonder, if the rustic salt and pepper shakers, would be a perfect gift for them". "Ya sure". So this was our next item on the gifts list.
We came across, another, masterpiece. It was bird feeders, for Mr. and Mrs. Christopher. They have dedicated, one of their rooms to different birds.
Some cages are hung, on the roof. Others are kept off the floor. Whenever we have visited, them, they are busy looking after them.
We wrapped, a wooden bird feeder, and then gave a gift to them, They were really happy. Both of them were shaking hands with us, for this.
Jean and I always enjoy, the beautiful, sounds of the birds, whenever we just enter the lift in our lobby.
With time, we all have a stronger relationship, with our neighbors. We had barbeque parties, birthdays celebrations, Valentine's day. We exchanged all of the gifts.
We even posted photos, on our neighbors Facebook page. Our friends wrote and appreciated our efforts. We all thanked each other for the support, in the current pandemic.
We also attended funerals of the departing souls. People also paid respect, and kept roses, on their doors. We also extended, our hands to the needy ones, living in our building.
We all felt, like a big family, living next to each other.
